God Promises

God’s Promises come in all shapes and sizes. No boundary can keep His promises from coming forth after He speaks them. In the Bible, there are Personal Promises, Corporate Promises (to God’s children or to the Church), and Prophetic Promises. A Prophetic Promise is a divine covenant of assurance that is most often spoken from a prophet that tells an event in the future guaranteed by His Faithful spoken Word.

What is a promise from God: Any spoken words written in the Bible, any spoken word from an angelic being, any word from a prophet, or even a word spoken from a donkey? Yes, God used a donkey to speak to the Prophet Balaam, Numbers 22:21-35

God spoke promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God spoke a covenant or a promise to Abraham, found in the Book of Genesis Chapters 12, 15, and 17, which consisted of three main promises: To make him a “Great Nation,” (innumerable descendants), to give him the “Land of Canaan,” (the Promised Land), and to bless “all nations of the earth,” through his offspring. These promises were outlandish to Abraham because of his age of 100 and his 90-year-old wife’s age. Abraham’s wife was past her childbearing years. But Abraham believed in God’s Word.

God promised to bless Isaac (Genesis 26:2-5). The Promise was to always be with him and to confirm the same covenant that was made with Abraham. The Promise included land, numerous descendants (like the stars), and the promise that, through his offspring, all nations would be blessed. God specifically instructed Isaac to stay in Canaan during a famine, promising to fulfill this oath as a reward for Abraham’s obedience.

God promised to be with Jacob (Genesis 28:13-15), a promise to protect him, another promise to guide him, and a promise ensuring his safety and safe return home. He promised to make him a great nation through numerous descendants, give him the land of Canaan, and bless all the families of the earth through him, fulfilling the covenant of Abraham.

There is even a promise of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, found in Genesis 3:15, after Adam and Eve’s fall into sin.  God declares to the serpent (Satan) that a “seed” (descendant) of the woman will crush the serpent’s head, while the serpent strikes his heel. This prophecy of a Savior born of a woman, and not from a man, hints at a miraculous birth. The phrase, “He shall bruise your head,” indicates the Messiah will inflict a fatal, final blow on Satan. The “bruise your heel” part signifies that the Savior would suffer during this battle, which connects to the crucifixion. This scripture serves as the initial, foundational prophecy that God would restore humanity through a Savior or a redeemer.

In the Bible, there are promises of Marriage: “Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him. Genesis 2:18 (ESV),” Land, “When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess, ” Deut. 7:1Ministry, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5Godly lineage, “I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.” Genesis 17:7, Debt cancellation: At the end of every seven years, you must cancel debts. Deuteronomy 15:1-2, Prosperity, “For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success,” Joshua 1:8, Blessed business, “But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth,” Deuteronomy 8:18, Supernatural healing, “Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praiseJerimiah 17:4, and The Promise of the Holy Spirit, Jesus promises to ask the Father for “another Helper,” (the Spirit of truth,) who will abide with believers forever and teach them all things,” John 14:16-17, 26.

In every season of life, God has already spoken promises over His children. From marriage to ministry, from land to legacy, from debt cancellation to prosperity, from healing to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, His Word reveals that He is a covenant-keeping Father. These promises are not random blessings; they are part of His divine plan to establish, provide, restore, and empower His people for His glory.

The same God who declared in Genesis that it was not good for man to be alone is the same God who speaks destiny in Jeremiah, provision in Deuteronomy, success in Joshua, and eternal help through the promise fulfilled in John. What He has promised, He is faithful to perform.

These promises are not just biblical history; they are also for you. You can attain all of these promises through a real relationship with God through Christ Jesus. As believers, our responsibility is to trust, obey, and remain steadfast in faith. When we align our lives with His Word, we position ourselves to walk in the fullness of what He has already declared. Seek God for your specific promises, then hold fast to His promises. Pray for your promises. Stand on your promises. Believe in your promises. For the God who made them is faithful, and not one of His promises will return void.
